Amelia Island Summer Fishing Update – Tarpon, King Mackerel, and More
Hello Anglers,
The summer months on Amelia Island have provided some incredible fishing days! From the excitement of Tarpon migration in May to an exceptional season for King Mackerel, this summer has been filled with action for Pipe Dream Charters.
Tarpon Migration – A Surprise Early Catch
In May, we saw the beginning of the Tarpon migration into Northeast Florida. During a trip while anchored at the end of the Amelia Island Jetties, we were bottom fishing for Sharks, Redfish, and Whiting when one of the bottom rigs suddenly took off.
To our surprise, we hooked into a Tarpon early in the season, and the fish’s acrobatic leap resulted in the hook being thrown. While we weren’t expecting a Tarpon so early, this exciting action showed that the season was about to heat up for charter fishing on Amelia Island.
King Mackerel Action – An Exceptional Season
As the season progressed, King Mackerel fishing took off with some exceptional catches. Pipe Dream Charters boated several Kings, and along with Sailfish and Cobia, we had a fantastic time trolling for these thrilling fish.
Recently, we had an outstanding trip where we boated 4 Cobia, released 5 Cobia, and put 10 Kings in the box! With offshore trolling and warmer water temperatures, the action has been nothing short of incredible.
Offshore Bottom Fishing – Vermillion Snapper, Amberjack, and More
In addition to King Mackerel, our offshore bottom fishing trips have been red hot. We’ve been catching limits of Vermilion Snapper, Large Triggerfish, Grouper, Amberjack, and Cobia. The fishing action offshore has been nothing less than spectacular, and there’s still plenty of time to get in on the fun.
Get Ready for the Bull Redfish Action
As we approach the end of summer, the Bull Redfish will begin their migration out of the backwaters, staging at the jetties in preparation for their offshore journey to the wrecks. This is prime time for some epic Bull Red action.
For anglers of all levels, this is a chance to battle 40 lb. Redfish that will put your skills to the test and give beginners a real thrill.
