Amelia Island Fishing Charter Season Recap – Offshore and Inshore Fishing Highlights

Hello Anglers,

It’s been an exciting season for Amelia Island fishing charters, and despite the near miss from Hurricane Florence, we’ve had calm seas and some of the best fishing conditions of the year. The Pipe Dream III crew had an award-winning season in 2018, and we’re thrilled to share the highlights with you!

Excellent Offshore and Inshore Fishing Action in 2018

From February through May, offshore fishing was on fire! We had great success trolling for Wahoo, Tuna, and Mahi. As the season progressed, the bite remained steady, providing ample opportunity for anglers to reel in some incredible catches.

Closer to shore, our bottom fishing trips produced fantastic catches, including Cobia, Vermilion Snapper, Grouper, and a variety of other species. These trips offered exciting action, and we were able to keep the rods bent throughout the season.

Red Snapper Mini-Season – Pipe Dream Charters Was Booked Solid!

In mid-August, NOAA and the South Atlantic Fish Management Council (SAFMC) approved a Red Snapper mini-season, and Pipe Dream Charters was booked solid for all six days of the event. Anglers had no problem limiting out on Red Snapper, with catches ranging from 10 to 25 pounds — a great way to wrap up a summer of fantastic fishing!

Tarpon Action Continues in Fernandina Beach

While the summer fishing season winds down, Tarpon are still hanging around the Amelia Island Jetties. Anglers continue to land big Silver Kings as the water temperature remains warm. These legendary fish offer some of the best sportfishing action available.

When the water temperature begins to cool, we can expect a bull redfish bite, with these powerful fish making their way closer to shore for some excellent fishing action.

Fall Outlook – Offshore and Inshore Fishing at Its Best

As Fall approaches, Amelia Island will see an influx of Wahoo and bottom fishing action. The cooler water temperatures will get the fish biting, and we expect Sea Bass, Vermilion Snapper, Grouper, and Triggerfish to be plentiful.

Fall in Amelia Island brings ideal fishing conditions, and we’re gearing up for some of the best inshore and offshore fishing the region has to offer.
